Licenciado en Medicina y Cirugía . Ex director del departamento de diagnóstico por imagen del hospital San Juan de Roma. Rabino por el Colegio Rabínico de Italia (1973). Miembro del Consejo de Gobierno de la Asamblea de Rabinos de Italia (1999 a 2007) y vicepresidente de la Conferencia Europea de Rabinos desde 2010. Director del Colegio Rabínico Italiano, desde el año 1999. Actualmente es Vicepresidente del Comité Nacional de Bioética (Italia).
Colaboró en la realización del ciclo de ficción Las historias de la Biblia como parte del Comité de Expertos. Especialista en Bioética, cuenta con numerosas publicaciones en revistas científicas. Ha realizado conferencias, ponencias y ha participado en mesas redondas organizadas por asociaciones profesionales y científicas, tanto seculares como religiosas.
Graduate in medicine and surgery. He continued with his profession until 2014, performing as the Head of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging (radiology) at the Hospital of Saint John in Rome. Rabbi granted by the Rabbinical College in Italy (1973), he is the Chief Rabbi of Rome, the most important rabbinical chair in Italy. He was member of the Governing Council of the Italian Rabbinical Assembly from 1999 to 2007. Since 2010 he has been vice-President of the Conference of European Rabbis. Since 1999 he has been Director of the Italian Rabbinical College.
He collaborated in the carrying out of the fiction series «The Bible stories» as a part of the Expert Committee. As a specialist in Bioethics, he wrote many papers in scientific magazines. He also gave conferences and participated in round tables organized by professional and scientific, religious and secular associations.
